The article describes the approaches to the study of socio-geographical aspects of public nature management and some results of public nature management research for rural settlements of the region. Thematic studies of the parameters determining by the sustainability of development and optimization of public nature management were held in the Central rural settlement of the Rakityansky district in the Belgorod region in accordance with the proposed program: preparation of a business card of a rural settlement, consideration of the social, geographical and ecological aspects, studying the nature of interaction between the settlement and the environment, characteristic of the environmental quality, searching patterns, and trends of socio-economic, demographic and ecological processes joint development.
